Meditation

Stabalise your mind!

We are always thinking. We wake up thinking. We go to sleep thinking. During our sleep we dream. We engage in life; thinking. Our lives are in fact dominated by a constant chatter of internal thoughts. Most of these thoughts are no more than repeats of thoughts that we have had before.

When we begin to examine the nature of emotion, we find that the emotional responses that we experience in response to external situations are actually created as a result of our internal thoughts about the situation itself.

This is an interesting realisation. Taking it one step further, we find that it is impossible for any external situation to force us into an emotional response. Our thoughts about the situation create the emotion, not the situation itself!

Byron Katie, the famous American therapist and author asks the question "Who would you be without that thought"? Her work, and much of mine, involves helping people to find empowerment within any situation simply through learning how to change their thoughts.

The mind is a muscle which, like any muscle in the body, becomes stronger when exercised. Meditation is the practice of training the mind. While there are thousands of meditation techniques available today, they all share a common goal - achieving a state of mental peace. After all, what would you feel if you mind was silent and you had no thoughts at all?

When the mind is silent, we access something wonderful inside; a sense of power, presence, intuition and knowing. Our perception dramatically changes and a new world opens before us. A world of choice, wonder and possibilities.
