Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

The hypnotic state is a naturally occurring state of consciousness. Hypnosis lies between the normal waking and sleeping states.

We each experience hypnosis many times a day. Driving a car automatically or being engrossed in a movie are both experiences of natural hypnosis.

Clinical speaking, when the mind is focused on one thing to the exclusion of everything else, we are in a hypnotic state of consciousness.

Thought is creative. Our thoughts within a situation are responsible for the emotions that we experience. The emotions that we feel reflect into our behaviour.

People respond to us according to our behaviour. Therefore our behaviour is responsible for the creation of our friendships, relationships, professional opportunities and experience of life.

We form our beliefs according to our experiences. The beliefs that we hold are reflected in the thoughts that we think.

The external world of behaviours, reactions and experiences is therefore a direct result of the internal world of beliefs, thoughts and emotions.

When a piece of paper lies in the sun on a hot day it becomes warm. If the power of the sun is focused on the paper with a magnifying glass, it can catch fire. When the human mind experiences deep states of relaxation, the power of thought is focused and we enter into hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestibility characterised by feelings of relaxation. Utilising this state, it is possible to access the emotions, thoughts and beliefs that lie behind the creation of experiences, reactions and behaviours; and to change them.

It is often the case that emotional reactions experienced in the present are the result of unprocessed experiences from the past. Under hypnosis, it is possible to not only assess the root of an emotion but also to change our perception (and therefore emotional memory) of that situation itself.

Hypnosis is the programming language of the human brain. Through appropriate use of this tool, it is possible to resolve emotional conflicts, heal emotional hurts, gain control of our mental thought processes and create the life we choose.
